NASHVILLE, TENN. (August 28, 2014) - Last week, Colton Dixon, the 19 Recordings' Dove Award-winning artist and Season 11 American Idol finalist, released his highly anticipated sophomore album, Anchor. In its first week out, the album debuted at No. 1 on four charts, taking the top spot on both the Christian/Gospel Album and Digital charts, the ChristianRock/Alternative Album chart as well as on the Contemporary Christian Album chart. This makes Dixon's second No. 1 album debut.

On release day, August 19, Anchor quickly climbed the iTunes overall albums chart to No. 4 and remained in the Top 10 throughout street week. The album's first single "More Of You" continues to receive multiple adds every week and is currently No. 3 at Hot AC, as well as Top 20 in both AC Monitored and AC Indicator.

Along with Dixon's New York City media blitz last week, where he visited with ABC News, Fox News, US Weekly, Breathecast, Christian Post, performed on Fox & Friends and more, Dixon has also been featured in USA Today, on Fox 411 and in The Hollywood Reporter, to name a few. With comments such as "Colton Dixon is the real deal," to "Anchor...finds the pop rocker at his best" to a fan exclaiming "this will be the only thing I hear for weeks," the reviews for Anchor have been a good indication to the immediate success of his sophomore effort.

ABOUT Anchor AND COLTON DIXON:
For his sophomore effort, Colton Dixon co-wrote with renowned songwriters and artists such as Trevor McNevan (TFK), Matthew West, TobyMac, Ben Glover, Matt Bronleewe and the album's producers, David Garcia (TobyMac, Mandisa, Newsboys) and Red Decibel (Switchfoot, Kelly Clarkson, Jeremy Camp).

Anchor follows Dixon's 2013 debut, A Messenger, which set the record for biggest first-week sales by a new solo Christian act, becoming the No. 1 selling album of 2013 by a new Christian artist and the No. 9 best selling album of 2013 in the Christian genre overall. Dixon played to more than 300,000 people last year and his current tour schedule through 2014 will place him in front of more than 800,000.

After his appearance on American Idol (Season 11), Dixon had national media exposure and received three Dove Award nominations, winning one for Best Contemporary Rock Album. He was also named a finalist in the recent Ryan Seacrest online Fan-Favorite American Idol Contestant from past seasons - placing 3rd overall. Colton Dixon has also been named the latest Steinway artist, following in the footsteps of folks like Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall and Billy Joel. Additionally, Dixon has an exclusive ice cream flavor named after him! The Boston-based boutique ice cream maker Emack & Bolio's debuted Dixon's unique flavor this month.
